Cute Vet, Ugly Bill

I went for a cat show over the weekend (Sunday) at the Tampines West CC w Stella. It's our first cat show n it's just amazing!!

Educational Posters from the Cat Welfare Society.

and on the morning of the cat show, the cat welfare society
volunteers found even more kittens abandoned!
OMG! Volunteers feeding the meowing kittens!

I ran into a very friendly cat lover at the Cat show n he gave me a recommendation of the vet very near my place. In fact I pass by it very often but after I failed to get a medication from them once, I never return.

So I made the appt to bring in my babies... the distance is so near yet so far - too far n heavy to walk the carrier there, too near to take a cab. in the end, I decided to take the cab - boarding was $2.80. I gladly paid the $3 w joy as the Trip meter jumped when I open the taxi door!

I have to admit, I am a sucker for vets.... both female n male.
Or maybe I should give myself some credit, they are true animal lovers - what more can I ask for?!

To be a Singaporean and a Vet, it's really an uphill route from the start!
1st: Typical parents will tell u to be a Human doctor instead!
*Did u knw that LKY's wife dissuade Dr Lee Wee Ling, who was fond of dogs, against a career as a vet. (now the head of singapore’s national neuroscience institute). No joke, from the horses' mouth cos I read it from her weekly column, which I follow religiously! - Read it here

2nd: There aint Vet courses in the many Universities here in Singapore - said to be a WORLD CLASS EDUCATIONAL HUB!

3rd: You have to be rich! A typical Singaporean aspiring  to be vet must be prepared to pay alot more for universities fees (considered Science faculty - which is almost double of a normal Biz Degree), likelyhood no or very little exemptions from modules, usually have to take a Foundation Year (1 year to cover the lack of Science subjects in college years) + 4 years typical of a Veterinary Science Course. On top of that, the nearest you can take such a course will be in AUS, the typical n most well known amongst Singaporeans - Murdoch Uni. Some other popular ones will be Uni of Sydney or Massey Uni (NZ).

Why I know all these? Cos I am a Sore- loser who so wish I can do all these!
I failed all criterias...
Now, u would understand my fetish for vets.... esp cute n handsome ones!

I am thankful to learn that the routine health check up for my babies are good! But my hand trembled when they break the cruel news to me.... the bill was a F**King $247! I calmly surrender my VISA n asked for the bill breakdown politely. The consultation for health check up was only abt $60 for both cats... i asked for some additives for their lousy teeth condition + yet another ear cleaner for Nugget's persistent ear was problem...

This bloody water additive cost $66
*luckily only 1/4 pump to be added to every 1 cup of their drinking water
Lotsa wastage though cos they wun finish all the water anyway!

This toothpaste cos $48
*And there I was complaining that my $8.50 Cologate Sensitive Toothpaste is expensive! This is like almost SIX bloody times more expensive than mine!
Plus, creamie bite thru my index finger when I tried to massage her teeth n gums w it! OUCH!

This $44 ear cleaner adds to my collection.
* Nugget hates to have his left ear cleaned... it's like fighting a spider cat who tries all means to wriggle outa my hands and jumping all ard the room n over the furniture.
Not to mention $35 for a Swap test
for Nugget's ears to make sure those blackish stuff are not ear Mites!

There u go.... for the love of my babies! No to mention that I bot all the cat nibbles I can manage to carry home from the cat show - cos the deal was too good to miss! Another burnt hole to my wallet!

Here I am trying to cut my expenses and staying afloat? Was it really worth it?!
You Bet!
My babies are the most impt to me now.....
Besides,
The vet is superb Cute n Handsome..... and single - no ring as far as I can see! There u go!
