Love it when I have the luxury to visit museums on weekdays, minus the wkend crowd! Of cos a different kinda crowd I ran into, tourist crowd + school kids groups! This week Starry is on leave so we decided to beat the crowd & chiong to the museum 1st thing in the morning!
So envious of the school kids! During my days, the only places we visited were the Zoo, Bird Park n Botanic Gardens... in Primary school alone - I visited the Zoo thrice! Not that I am complaining, it's just that as though Singapore only had these educating places!
We ran into kids from Preschoolers (probably from International school cos they were of all different colors!), secondary teenagers (some girls school bah, cos alot of bitchy commotion - sory to those from girls school reading this, u know what I mean), tourists etc.
We were lucky cos there was a scheduled Museum tour to intro to us the exhibits, learn more this way! What I love most abt these tours are that they are very informative, providing details we can never read from the description cards, plus we can ask questions! Curators of the exhibits are seldom ard, who else knws the exhibits better than them!? I remb in Italy, Rome, Sistine chapel, catholic museum etc, some of the guides were students who earn a living part time, they charge extortion price lor! But then again, they know THEIR history so well! How many of us can claim to know Singapore history well enough to stand duty at the Singapore Museum and be guides?! Only a handful bah.... & we take History as complusory subjects in School... shame on myself... haiz...
Anyway, it was great! Check it out! MASTERCARD has 50% discount so it's only $8.50 instead of $15. Even a movie ticket costs more on a weekend! It's definitely a Great deal!
Mummified Cat.... OH NOOOOOO!!!

A "Mummy" Mummy...
Xray of the Above exhibit.
She probably passed on during labour, there were 2 infant probably twins mummified tog with her as shown in the Xray... poor thing
Canopic jars for placing the internal organs while they do the embalming of the corpse...
So this is how it looks like after 1st stage of Mummification...
Just the bandages...
This is the Book of Dead (Manual for the afterlife)
It's aka the 10-years series to get pass the stages of Judgement so that u can go to Paradise/heaven...
Chim....
Close up on 1 section:
This is the rich man's version, buy of the shelf & write in the name of deceased, then buried together. The scroll is rather long, probably 6-7 metres writen on Papyrus paper.

The alternative is to write on the bandages used to wrap the corpse... Eerie lah!
Time to be like a Kiddo!
We get some hands on at the kiddo section!
Old Egypt Numeral system:
If I do this pose everyday, will i make my 1st million soon?!
How they do mental sums:
How they count 24 X 53 = ?
What's 24 X 53 =?
I would have done it like this:
24 X 100 = 2400,
so 24 X 50 = 2400/2 = 1200,
24 X 3 = 72,
So 1200 + 72 = 1272 (ANS)
Starry did it like this:
24 X 50 = 1200,
24 X 3 = 72,
So 1200+72 = 1272 (ANS).
In my opinion, the old egypt way is more complex n more Pictoric.
Anyway, interesting Facts!
Looks like the Hourglass concept
Our pyramids!
Guess which 1 is mine?! Wuahaha!
Starry & her name stamped out!
Me!!!
As you can tell ald, it spells S-O-Y-A!!!
Adventure!!!
