Vexed! All up in Smoke!

Today must have been my lucky day!

Both my vacuum cleaner n TV went up into smoke this morning!

Was vacuuming my room this morning (weekly routine), almost 95% done then "POOF!" Then came the sound of an old walkman running dead on battery.... a final "WHINE" and then SMOKE! Then a burning smell filled the air! faint!

The vacuum cleaner is probably abt 8 yrs old... i guess it's time it retires! Afterall, for the past 2 years esp, it has been working really hard to suck up all the Kitty fur!

Many reasons why I am so Lucky!
1) My room was abt 95% cleaned already!
2) It didnt explode in my face! 
3) I was contemplating to buy a new vacuum bag for the model, decided tat it may be time to change a new one after it's long service award!

Then after cleaning the room, I decided to watch some TV. Everyone knows the TV in my room is a white elephant! I briefly counted the number of hours I spent "listening" to the TV in my room, probably less than 10hours. Actual watching probably account for abt 4hrs in total. Is that very little??
Anyway, despite the TV being abt 5 yrs old, the usage is still very little! yet it went up into smoke this morning after 10mins of watching, the only warning is a "POP!" sound...

Alas! having just splurge on the TV in the living room for papa's bday, this is gona be a hefty for me to replace both items for my own use!

nevertheless, TV can wait.... vacuum cleaner cant!! i dun wanna use a cat fur blanket to keep me warm!!
probably will get a secondhand TV bah! best is less than 32", cos it's too big for my room. 26" will be nice but due to economies of scale, a bigger TV may b more worth it!

I have till end Feb to utilise a $100 voucher for a new Panasonic LCD TV.... totally new one is still too much and a bit of 奢侈 (extravagance). Then there is always the IT fair in March.

But meanwhile, searching the Gumtree websites for 2ndhands now... any lobang, please let me know.

Yr2011 CNY

I dun usually celebrate CNY. It's esp stressful when my family is hosting CNY for my paternal relatives, AGAIN.

During our usual boring exchange of strained conversation, job lah, marriage lah, children lah... I learnt that I am one of the only 2 - not married nor dating.

I have 3 cousins of my same age (2 male, 1 female) . 2 of them are getting married in June and May this year. 1 is a typical bachelor/playboy. Then we also have a female cousin whose 1 year older than us, a Stewardess and has been dating a Canadian for some time already (though we never met).

I have to literally dodge the constant questioning of "When is your turn?" esp when my elder brother announced that he is not married. Cant stand all the 3rd Aunty 6th Aunty (三姑六婆)... ARGH!

Despite the constant interrogation, I still pretty much enjoy the rest of CNY celebration.

How many BLOODY combs does one need?

Confession time! ok.... ahem.... ready or not, but I do not own a comb, at least not anymore since i chop off my hair. That means I havent comb my hair for probably a decade!! Hahhah! Are u still on ur chair?

I duno, but the little tuff of bush on my head dun really call for the need of a comb! Magic Fingers will do the job!

But, I have spent quite abit on my kitties' comb/brush!

Just how many is enough?!

They have three in total, excluding one rubber one which they refuse to use n I use it to "comb" my bed of their fur, and the one which cost $130 (to shed their fur)......

OK ok, they have FIVE BLOODY Brushes! Ok! Damnit!

The problem is, they go by trial n error mostly! It's doom when they reject the comb at the 1st sight! n everytime I whip that particular one out, they will run and hide! If it's the one they like, they will come to me n purr non stop! 

The one that I was using for the longest time ever is breaking into pieces... so I bot another one (which they really hate), n yest bot another 1 (which they really like) - phew! They are really attas cats lor! They new one cost a whopping $11! Yes yes, I know - I wun even spend $5 for a meal if I were to eat out on my own! ArgH! The life of a Mummy!

Since creamie's collar broke, bot a new one for Nugget too! Best, on their Godma, Starry Stella's account! Kekeke! Pple's kids get Gold chains from their Godparents leh, 2 collars n a brush is not too much to ask for right?

I think the blue compliments Creamie's blue eyes very well!

Well, they are the sweetest I can ask for... this is what happens whenever someone leaves the house or when a family member is coming back!

Strangely, they seem to know already whether the person coming up the lift is a family member or not!

1st: If they scamper to the door and wait = FAMILY MEMBER! 

Usually after counting to 3, then "DingDong" from the lift, then count to 5,

VIOLA, family member at Doorstep!

There's a reverse way around this situation.

1st: If they suddenly scamper to hide in my room = STRANGER!

Trading performance sucks BIG TIME!

My performance after the last posting is (note:present tense) disappointing ... still red n green, red n green. it's damn irritating esp after I have posted a good performace report!

How bad? Let's just say.... very, bad enough to return every bit of $$ i have made in the past 3 months...
should i be "pan-tang" (superstitious) and not reported the decent performance? haiz....

Discipline, or the lack of it!

Honestly, I havent been very disciplined lately. In fact, i was rather ill-disciplined of late.

To think that I used to be diligent, waking up at 6.45am everyday to work... I find it very challenging to even wake up at 8am these days! Also, during my peak of training, I was doing like almost 60km of runs per week, considering that i only run thrice a week then - that's pretty high milege, tat's an average of 20km each run! Thinking back, I find it hard to believe I was doing a half marathon every other day then! Actually, it was mostly broken down to 16, 16 and 28km!

A far cry from my fittest moments... I struggle to keep a gd pace during my jogs, I am toking abt 8km jogs at very slow pace btw! it's maddening how a period of slack moments can diminish all my months of hard work!

Determined to not repeat my painful history of the recent Stanchart marathon, I have just started jogging again - note: Jog, not run.

But the timing is abit off, I am still struggling to wake at 8am... so i generally leave the hse abit later n since the weather has been rather forgiving, I vowed to cut back my sleeping time bits gradually.

This week I kick started with 3 jogs on Tues, Wed and today(Fri), 6km, 8km and 8km respectively. I plan to do a slightly longer jog this weekend (since I dun have swimming classes this sat), I'll probably try to do a very slow 15km. Even then, it's only 36km this week.... still a long way to go man!

Wish me luck man! So far i only suffered the nagging pain on the small of my butt muscle (old pain) on the 1st day... careful and deep stretching had helped relieved the pain and it was gone by the 3rd jog this week.

I will be back.... hey, wait up for me!!! =D

Will anyone date me, for i am the woman with cats?

For a long time, woman keeping cats have been associated with Singledom, Lonely, and strange...

we heard it all the time!

"That spinster neighbour of mine! She kept 9 cats!"

"Have u heard? The old lady was dead for 2 weeks, if not for the constant meowing of her cats, no one would discover the body!"

Just watch Sex in the City 1 Movie, there were toks abt being discovered dead without a face cos the cat kept by the single woman was so hungry that the cat ate her face!

Personally, men n cats are very similar! One thing for sure, they only come to u when they want attention, if u really want the attention of a man cat - ignore it! It works! It will come meowing n purring at ur feet! Of cos man do it in a more subtle way, prehaps one day i'll find someone who will gladly lick my toes the way Nugget does! kekeke!

Men or cats, i'll vote the latter anytime. If I can have both, that's BEST!!!

Dilemma from flowers.... Truth Hurts

I have alwis feel that receiving flowers shd be a very happy thing... but last nite's bouquet gave me quite abit of headache...

Linda had knocked on my bedroom door rapidly last evening, she asked if the flowers were for me, i said "no" almost too quickly.
Number 1) I m not attached,
Number 2) There isnt someone tat i know of (at this moment), who would send me flowers.

But it was for me. According to Linda, it was left at the doorsteps, i must have missed the delivery guy as I buried myself in blanket, watching a sobby korean drama's last few episode.

Then when I saw the card, I was caught very much by surprised.
1st reaction: Haiz... what should I do now...

I have theories abt receiving flowers,
1) Sincerity
I am most happy when received 1 or 2 or a small bouquet, but never thru delivery.
So far the big bouquets i have received were ordered online n delivery by the florists. I wished the sender had specially picked out the flowers, consulted the florist abt a certain arrangement, wrote the card (in own handwriting) and gave the flowers to me personally - even if it's only 1 stalk. Yes yes, i know I am a romantic die hard but that's the way i am.... it's definitely more sincere than click away on the net, select something that dun look too cheapo, type the words u would like to appear on the card (which is picked by the floral company btw) and then pay with the plastic.

2) Intentions
If the flowers are from someone i am dating, the msg could be:"I love u and I really treasure u"
If the flowers are from someone whom u are considering to date, then the msg could be :" I really like u, would u consider me?"
but what if the flowers are from someone random... what is the hidden msg?
Dilemma dilemma.... esp when the flowers are from someone whom u dun wana date. ARGH! Wrecked i am!

Dun get me wrong, I am still very happy whenever i receive flowers!!!
but all I am saying is that if the flowers are frm someone special, I think I will be happy with just 1 stalk, cos the meaning is BIG enough already. At least the person bothered to go to the florist, personally pick that stalk, n travel with it to hand it over to me. =D

For now, I'll probably have to transform to be the cold n mean Soya... only till the coast is clear... bear with me... So sorry... the truth hurts...

Closure for Dec10 / WY2010

Pardon me for my late entry on closing month of Dec 2010 / WY2010!
Given my trading account is very small, I am still very pleased with the results for last month.

*P.S, before u go WOWWW!
my trading account is below $2k btw.
So if u think 40% return is gd for the month, if u work back the sums,
i prob started the month with $1.2k (max) + 40% ($800) = $2k.

Shan't bore u with details on the amount of risk i take. & if u think this can be consistent, think again. In a Biz, there are low periods too... so u think u can survive on $800 a month?

Since the year has concluded, I wish to set some new year trading resolutions:

1) Work on current trading account size to the amount I started the account with.

2) Cont. to employ a take max profit at highest probability (no. of pips).

3) Once account recovered to pre trading amount to work on riding the trend.

4) Cont. to increase lot size to exposure of abt 5% of trading balance (of each work day).

5) Aim to achieve 8% p.w. growth on account balance (as of each week).

What i really need to do now is to calm my nerves when trading, relax, +ve self talk, sit back n let it unfold in front of me - showing myself how Blessed i am.

Sometimes we hang on to the old stuff we have, we treasure it for sentimental values, citing the only reasons we still hang on to it is that it's still "functioning", "it still works!"... but the actual reasons is our refusal to admite tat we just too "soft" and yet another "Old fart who's getting Sentimental with the old feelings"...

By Old Stuff, I mean not only items, objects, tangible stuffs.... but also our inner most feelings... Just to cite an example, How many couples still stay together though they would secretly admite that there's no sparks between them anymore? We commit the same mistakes of hanging on to stuff we feel familiar with, mayb we are afraid of the New to come, the whole cycle of having to learn the new ropes, or the getting used to something new.

I have this epiphany due to 3 reasons over what happened on the last few days of the year.
1) My trusty TIMEX broke on me...
2) A new friend openly admitted to me that he is committing adultry, n the wife just accepted things as it is...
3) My BGF (Best Guy Friend) finally decided to break up with his 1st official gf...

On matter number 1), my trusty TIMEX was a gift from my ex. It must have probably been with me for the past 5-6years. I feel esp upset not only cos it was the last of the watches still working that I received from this ex, but also cos it has been thru with me another memorable relationship, a series of self discovery thru a return to sports in terms of running n triathlons, many more. For months I have noticed a deep crack on the casting.... i secretly pray that it's just yet another "war scar" it suffered (I have replaced more than once the batteries, the straps when it broke on me though the color was totally uncompatible)... I held on to the watch dearly... but it finally succumbed to it's "war injuries".

Btw, I had already received a new TIMEX since Aug, so frankly I am not in short of sport watches, but I have refused to wear the new one yet, i wanted to be faithful to my old 1.... for crying loud sake- yes! Sentimental values!
Now I am "forced" to "remarry" a new watch after the old 1 R.I.P-ed on me.

 My time stops here...

On matter number 2), I was kinda taken aback when someone who just re-know me (we knew each other in school but never toked), told me bluntly in the face that he was committing adultry... as if he was just telling me "I just got a new mobile phone girlfriend..." Btw, he's a father of 1.5 (2nd 1 due in Apr). He's my age, n knew his wife for like 13 yrs, tat's almost half the number of years he's alive on planet earth! Expectedly, he is full of praises for his wife - for alwis forgiving him even learning of his infidelities (Plural btw) over the years of their courtship and eventually marriage. *Bravo*

He said that for the new year, he wish to stay more focused on his family, sever ties with the current gf. For a moment, I actually tot he was serious - by the end of the day when we left the party n he dropped me home, i am not convinced. I even have this strange feeling that he was hitting on me the whole night.

I ended up telling him that Both Women n Men are stupid, the only difference is that Women tok it out, Men dun. Mayb cos Women knew that Men is stupider, so she feel the need to TELL him, which entry angle will hits her O-Spot. Men, knowing that Women are cleverer, hence he never tells her what pleases him... instead, he spent the whole night pulling her hair trying to smash her head into his balls... Men, the poor girl will be wondering if u are trying to kill her! Just tell the Women "Deeper", i think Women are smart enough to know what it means. Lesson learnt, "ask n u shall be given!"

We toked abt how well oiled his sex machine is with his wife, everything is as reliable as the clock, how this familarities seemed to be a very grey thing - familiarity is predictable, no mistakes, reliable and no guessing needed, otherwise - fool proofed! But familiarity is Boring. For all the pros that it has, 1 con is enough to throw everything outa window. What irony!


For Matter number 3), some time back, my BGF had told me that he was thinking of calling it quits with his gf of 3 years. For the many years i know him, this is the 1st gf that he brought to family functions, introduced to his gang of kakis and i think at some point, marriage was on the cards.

When he told me tat, I asked if he has decided already. U see, a guy never really "ask" another person for advice, he "tells" his concerns n ends with his decision, esp when the person is a girl (moi). Though he said "No", i am not surprised to learn that he finally pulled the plug after 2months...

In his case, he was actually relectuant to let go, but had to after a series of failed "negotiations". He had to make the painful decision. But after 3 years together? Was the need to clinge to "familiarities" involved in this wretched play? IMHO, it's more painful to let go of 旧 (old) when u are not in sight of 新 (new).
I mourn for my BGF's loss, he's a Great guy! But i am happy for his courage to let go of old baggages n wait for new ones to come.


So for the saying of

i have unexplainable mixed feelings of it. A part of me welcome the new experience, yet another clinge on desparately to the old familiarites.

Jogging at Upper Peirce Reservoir Park

My eldest brother brought me to a scenic jogging route today! Really nice! We went there once, but touch n go. Today we ventured inside n well.... got lost! hahah! but we explored quite abit of this place! The Lower n Upper Peirce Reservoir Park!

It was quite fun though, we saw monkeys (lotsa of them), the hills were terrible when we ventured on the tarmac roads... the weather was beautiful! Unknowingly, we covered abt 20km including the route to go back to his home in Bishan.

Bad mood = Lousy Food! Xmas pressies

It is true... when I am in a less than pretty mood, my cooking turns out bad.
The true behold, my family was the one who noticed and warn me abt it. It is alwis in my extreme mood that I cook..... when I am extremely happy, or when my happiness is "less of ace".

One day when I was baking, my elder brother (who is mostly oblivious of pple's feelings) asked me gingerly:
"Ermm... AhGirl, are u in a good mood or bad mood today?"
"Ok mood lor, quite happy actually. why leh?"
"Oh, ok, then can I eat some of the muffins after u finish baking?"
"Of cos! Why u ask my mood leh?"
"Oh, cos i notice whenever u bake, it's either u very gd mood or very bad mood... then if very bad mood, u will later complain that u muffin/cake never rise properly lah, or not nice, too dry etc. So if u lousy mood today, I better not eat the muffins later. keke"

See what I mean when I say he is "oblivious" to pple's feelings... can tell me so bluntly somemore!
Anyway, then I realised that it's true! Most of the time, I cook/bake when I am in a good mood, rare occasions I do that i vent some anger - and yes, usually i end up eating all the byproducts of destruction...

Honestly speaking, I am not exactly in the mood to cook. I dreaded for the day to come when I have to cook for this special days.... due to some unforeseen circumstances and misunderstanding, I kinda offended someone impt in my life. and yet i have to cook... bleah.

Nevertheless, I cooked. But as expected, the food turned out lousy (to my standard), despite the effort i put in to try to make it better. I guess i cant change the mood and queasy feeling.
