美香园(Mei Heong Yuen Dessert)

Went to claim my extended Warranty and Anti-virus that came with my lappy. It was at Chinatown Square.

And since I am already in town and craving for a filling lunch... I planned to go to temple street's 美香园(Mei Heong Yuen Dessert) (read here!) to fulfil my Rice Dumpling craving... I managed to evade the lunch time crowd and arrived at 1145am! No crowd or tissue paper choping seats! Yay!

The rice dumpling is special,
unlike anything I have eaten b4....
I am quite a rice dumpling fan actually!

It was filled with Yellow Bean!?! After chatting with the Lady boss, she told me it makes the dumpling smoother and less Ger-Lat! It's the same Yellow Bean used to make Dou Suan btw! Of cos there were lumps of Pork Lard and wau piang! They melted in my mouth faster than M&M's chocolate lor! YUMMY! Then there was my favourite Chestnut + Salted Egg Yolk! Superb Yummy!

I also ordered my favourite Sesame Paste Dessert and asked for ice... the lady boss was rather surprised but she didnt question me, instead of adding into the bowl, she provided me the liberty to decide how much i like with a separate bowl of Shaved Ice! Superb Service!

我要吃你了!!!

Must return again!
The GIANTIC Rice Dumpling cost $5.50 and the Sesame paste $2.50. Lunch was $8 and beyond my normal budget but Heck! it was too good to complain!

Xiao Long Bao!

Actually i find it quite expensive... 2 pax and we didnt really order alot!

Me n Bro Xiong at Ho Kee (Geylang) only spent $15 in totally and we couldnt even walk thereafter...
Food quality wise, actualy I like Ho Kee's better...

-----------------------------------
Then we adjourned to a few stalls down,
YUMMY!

*Cant decide whether wanna hot yummy dessert of Sesame Paste/ Almond Paste/Peanut Paste or Walnut Paste... Or Mango Shaved Ice...

Die die must have Waterchestnut Kuey!
We decided to eat all!

Round ONE!

Round Two!

Very satisfied!
Next time must go back to try the $5 GIANT rice dumplings!!

We then shop around along temple street, went into almost all the shops that sell wholesales kitchen utensils.... industrial grade, residental grade etc.... everything!
U never know how many types of laddle there are until u step into one of these shops man!

We conclude the end of Temple Street One Day tour!
The weather was just too hot to continue walking fully clothed!
We need to start allowing Bikinis on normal streets other than beaches!

I love Dim Sum!

Had a strange encounter this morning...
Went jogging with Xiong at ECP. It was early... a super long wkend and I made him fetch me at 7am!

It was ok, i only managed to do abt 11km...
I havent planned on where to eat BF but thot of dimsum... i dare not suggest cos I duno whereabout dim sum is nice, esp in the east (cos it's easier for him to drop me off). Then when he asked me to suggest where to eat, I told him tat i am not sure, but thot of having dim sum... duno where's dim sum is good though.

He turned ard and looked at me, then he say :
" 哇!你不要吓我leh!我知道我们很像but 不会吧! 我在想要不要吃dim sum 也是lor!"
* "Wau, you dun scare me leh! I know we are very similar but abit too much right?! I am also thinking of eating dim sum!"

Hmm... this can be quite scary!
Anyway, we pigged out at HoKee along Geylang!

Did we over order again?!

Childhood memories

Recently I had the chance to eat 1 of my fav childhood snacks... u may remember this too! It was usually sold in a Cone shaped container from some red paper and wrapped in a clear plastic. I remb buying these from the bakery/ confectionary usually. These days, they come in air tight sealed packets...

I feel esp nostalgic abt this snack because of my history of long hair. Yes! I had rather long hair for most of my childhood years! In fact, they were really long, length-till-my-butt kinda long. And my mother would force me to cut/trim my hair every month cos she finds it troublesome to tie my hair for my when i go to school or for washing at night! Everytime I am dragged by my hair (literally!) to the hair salon, I would beg her to let me keep my long hair! The hair salon that we used to go had a confectionary next door. She would then entice me with this Snack (which I called it the KartWheel snack). Alot of time, i usually lose 1-2inches of hair due to my desire to eat the snack! Boo!

I dun have many photos of my long hair thou, these are the longest hair photo I can find.

Me n my elder brother...
i was probably 6yrs old then.
i remb my 1st bike was a present for scoring Perfect score for 听写 and spelling!

So what happened to my long hair? Well, one fine day in Primary four, I decided to snip it off till shoulder length and over the years, it just got shorter! See my svelte body too, see those slender leg calves? Well they are gone too today!

Me and my cousin Bi during one of the Xmas lights viewing!

Do u still remb ur fav childhood snacks? I can name a few!

Your memories refreshed?
Yummm.... the good old days!

Singapore Flyer's Food Trail

Have read about the Singapore FoodTrail 路边摊 at the Singapore Flyer... will be a great makan place after watching *大世界*. So decided to bring Papa n Lidna there to look see look see and makan!

Must say that the Hokkien Mee n
the Oyster Egg(Or-Jian) is quite nice!

Papa says that all the living room
looks like this in the olden days!

Much hype but the place is relatively small... Papa says that this kind of place, the local will only come once or max twice. The tourists needless to say lah-prob only once! He didnt seem very impressed with the small scale of the place and the variety of food available. Nonetheless, the effort to recreate an 80's food trail along the streets is really quite commendable!

Food for Thoughts... Food for Good Cause!

The Yummy Team strikes again as we ventured to Food For Thoughts (the outlet at North Bridge Road). This cafe style place is cosy in scale, but astronomical in their ideals. They support many humanitarian causes like Fresh Water, Food for children etc. esp in the Third World Countries...

You have gota check out the place yourself!
The food is fantastic and affordable!

The Pork ribs are really very YUMMY!!

The "Everything Pork" Pizza!
Superb!

#Thanks to Starry, our star Food Blogger for the photos!
Love this shoot esp!
composition and all - well taken!
