Supa Long Weekend!

This is the 2nd time I truly get to enjoy LWE after working for 1.5yrs.... wow!
In fact, my first was just last week!!!

Boohoo.... Duno must wait for how long more before another LWE comes!!!

To start off my Friday, I finally indulged in my GIANTIC can of Stout which I had saved for the longest time!!

Even Cookie seemed to be rather interested in it!

Slept really well and woke up on Friday feeling refreshed!

I ventured out on Friday Morning with Papa n Linda to Tamp1 for Lunch… wanted to try KIM GARY… didn’t realized it’s the modern HKG Café style… not sure if Papa n Linda like or not! Plus, I thought it was the up market KIM GARY that we didn’t get to eat at East Coast road last time…. Bleah… ended up ordering Cheese baked rice and maggi mee! Wuahah!




Ordered a lot of drinks! Coincidentally, we all decided to drink the AloeVera Peppermint drink and to our disappointment, we just had to add a can of SPRITE to a mixture of Peppermint n aloevera…. Pls…. all we could taste was supa sweet SPRITE! Haiz! Nevertheless, I think they rather enjoyed it though!

Went to NTUC, passed by some nice strawberries and decided that the colour will look nice on my cheese cake! Decided to bake for Bro Xiong’s family! Though I dun like Strawberries, I think Kids will like them…. Ehmmm… Right?! Hahah!

This time I am not wasting any eggs! I used the mixer and managed to get “Soft White Peaks”… so so… this is how they really look like!!! Hahahahh!

Decided to do layering! So when cutting the cake, can see the nice red berries halfway thru the cake!

And I cut the strawberries into Heartshapes and decorated them on the top of the cake!

Set off to meet Starry to see the KangXi Emperor exhibition at Asian Civilisation Museum (ACM)! Been dying to see the exhibition!!! Have always wanted to go ACM for the past exhibits…. Always missed them… reason? Cos I like to stroll very slowly and reading the item descriptions, best if done alone (no one will have to wait for me!) and on a weekday… no crowd!!!

It feels very good to venture out when every1 else is still working!! YAY!!

Fooled around with the costumes! WUahahah! Like opera!!!

Read that he was a real darling.... though he was matched made at age of 13 to a girl... he truly loved her .... alas, she passed away shortly after giving birth to their children at age 22yrs! OMG! It was recorded that he was devastated by her death.... awww.....

Impromptu meet up with Vivy, Eeleen, Weilin and Eunice at Punggol Park Bliss Cafe! Boy, did we drink!!! Hahahh! We also decided to adjourn to KTV at Hougang Plaza at abt 3+am, but alas, they were closed already! So we left for home and decided to continue our KTV SuperStars dream another day! Wuahahah!

I have set my mind to spend more time with my babies.... each day at least a continuous undivided attention on them for 15mins!

Recently I have seen an improvement from Creamie's attitude towards me, more manja and loving... Cookie as usual will rubba any1 who comes fore with a pat or cuddle!

I baked a Nihon Jin Cheesi Cake!

Today's objective is to bake a Nihon Jin Cheesi Cake! Japanese Soft Cheese cake!

I hope to be able to achieve close to the standard of Breadtalk or the Japanese Cheese Cake band in Singapore (the one with the cow logo on the cake!).

It's super soft and light and yummy! So I searched the recipe online and decided to try!

The ingredients look simple enough, but the technic is rather complex...

Quite a handful to whip egg whites to become "soft white peaks!" whatever does that mean?!

1st try; no "soft white peaks" formed leh?! I beat for more than 10 mins on the electric mixer liao?! Gooosh... so I wasted 3 good egg whites (of cos the 3 extra yolks cos cant use for anything anyway)!

2nd try: Decided to change a bigger bowl (suspect it's the lack of air intake when beating). not abt to take another chance, I used the manual method to hand beat with a whisk! Viola! Soft white peaks after 8 damn shagged minutes of non stop beating!! So Desu Ka!

Then fold in the 1st mix and quickly pop into the oven with a "water bathe method".... supposed to fill the tray to at least half the level of the baking tin.... abit like steaming except in the oven!

Then the funny thing was that the baking tin was floating around in the oven cos the mixture was so light!!! Wuahahah!

Then when baking, it turned alittle too brown on the top, I read that the trick is to cover the top with an aluminum foil! This way, the cake would get "sunburnt" like my Lemon Cake!!!!

Well, though it was a little too moist and wet inside (which I suspect that the "white peaks" are too soft! Could be too much milk too.... The cake kinda sinked back down after I took it out from the oven, I think this is quite normal...

Overall, I give the looks 7.5 /10, taste 8 /10, texture 5/10...
Must improve the next time! YAY!

Overall, this proved to be quite a challenging recipe for some1 so new to baking like me!

Good try though, rather satisfied with the results!

Hmmm..... must try 1 more time then I will give to my friends...

after this.. what next?!

Feeling down.... Time for my Therapy!

Having been feeling rather down since last night....

Frankly, I was rather upset not being able to watch ... I have waited long for this movie... I dun like to wait...

But I know it's just that I have been feeling rather vexed recently... the tension just piled up... would be something that I know can cheer me up... so I need to do it now Now NOW!!! Stupid screening timing does it! ArgH!

To top it off, I saw this ad again in the newspaper this morning...

I love this place... the nice decor, the location... but maybe I love it for more than the physical unit itself.... I could love it for the wrong reasons... for the dream that was once within my grasp... for the life I once could have had... but it over... so I should move on.... why am I still feeling like this after so long... have I not moved on? I am pretty sure I have, but I am holding back ... for the general concept of how I wish my life could be... Let me be! Leave me alone!

This does it, I really need my therapy!
so I left the house for SIMEI PHOON HUAT to buy baking ingredients again!

I decided to bake cake for my office (tmr I am on leave, but will bring to them!), for Starry and family, and friends!

I will bake my favourite Banana Walnut cake for the branch (cos they love bananas!)
& bake Lemon Cake for Starry n Family (cos Starry dun take banana n Lemon is high in VitaminC, we need to boast our immune system against Flu!)

Using my new mixer for the 1st time! Niceeee!

Getting Lemon Zest for the Lemon Cake and the Frosting for the banana cake!

Must make full use of my $17 lemon zester! Hahah!

1st time I tried to do frosting! Easy n Yummy!

Not so nice end product... not sure why it couldnt get cooked in the middle.... so no choice let the top burnt abit bah!

Then I had a big surprise from Starry...

I think she can sense that I was feeling down cos I dun really feel like toking, even to her on the phone, nor msging... she came to my house!!! with Little Lion!!! OMG! She bot the Little Lion for me!!! & travelled all the way from AMK to Tampines and later gona travel back to AMK again.... on Public Transport... omg!

I was dumbfounded!

This Little Lion is Special... we saw it at Tamp1, then at AMK again on the same day... it's friend, Green Froggy is also very cute... this both caught my attention... I wouldnt buy for myself lah, but I wouldnt know which to buy also cos I like both alot!

But Sweet Starry bot it for me.... I think she is smarty pantz too, cos Lions have a special place in my heart! Plus it's smile makes me wanna sayang it more!!!

Somehow it feels weird... these are things I used to do for my love ones... surprise them... look out for them... somehow sm1 else is doing it for me now... I am still abit not used to the idea of being the recipient... of cos it feels real great to be the recipient! Need to get used to it! hhahah!

With starry... There seem to be a nagging reminder of some reservation on what I should or should not do...
