SCM, Bring it On!

5 Dec 2009 (Saturday)

Decided to take it really easy today!
Wanted to have a gd rest for the BIG RACE to come! YAY!

Managed to sleep in only till 9am... went to the airport to send off Stella... had my 1st Popeye's meal!

When I reached home, I decided to do some household work & usually my household chores DO NOT include the Window Grills! I only cleaned it once a year but the last time I cleaned them was when I was Preparing to bring Creamie n Cookie home for the 1st time! That was 1.5yrs ago!!! OMG! Ssssssshh!

So today I took apart the Window Nettings, cut away all the cable ties, washed the Nettings, cleaned the window grills & refixed everything back in place!

WOW! =DMy room looks really Bright & Clean! =D

Nuazed the rest of the day... did my computer back up, created CD Covers for all the MP3 CDs burnt etc... By then was already 8+pm liao! OMG!

BTW, found this at home! WOW! So retro siah!

I had rembed to hydrate myself & drank alot of water thruout the day! Until my peepee also very clear! wuahaha!

Today is Auntie Sammi's bday... she would be 51yrs this yr... I knew if she was still around, she would brace the Hot Sun, wake up early & be there for me at the finish line to support me.... But nonetheless, I am sure she's watching over me in Heavens with Papa God... Mummy, I miss you so much... I have so much to tell u, but of cos you know them already... I miss shopping with u, cooking with u, or simply just sitting at the kitchen table over a cuppa hot tea n some cookies... I wish to bake for you again... I wish u were still around... =I

Woke up at 5am, prep to go... READY!
Ellen picked me up at 5.40am.... LET'S DO IT!

6.45am - FLAGGED OFF! YAY! Had to walked quite a bit cos so many pple, couldnt even see the START point! OMG!
5km mark - 54mins (no sign of TEAM FATBIRD 2h30m Pacer?!)
10km mark - 1hr 6mins
15km -17km - Spotted TEAM FATBIRD Pacer!

17km mark - 1st sip of 100Plus for me

18km mark - Feeling the runner's HIGH!
19km mark - C'MON Ellen! Let's go!
20km mark - BIGGER STRIDES!
Saw the FINISH line - LAST BURST!
As part of our plans, we finished together - Net Chip timing on our watch : 2h21m50secs!

WE DID IT! YAHOOoo!

We kinda half washed up at the Suntec City Mall toilet, feeling actually quite clean after that! kekek! Feeling Fresh! Had a hearty breakfast at Suntec City Mall Burger King Breakfast!

I recalled that I had Burger King last year after the SCM Race last year! But that was totally different! I couldnt even walk properly, + I only have chance to eat the Burger King LUNCH! Wuahah!

Waited for the PLK Gang to finish their FULL MARATHON! Kudos to them! So PROUD of them lah!

Derek, Wei Leng, Clarissa, Yuen Pei! WOOOOHOO! Really unimaginable for me to think of running the full marathon!

& Wei Leng finish the race in abt 5hr40mins (Gun time) so probably 5hr30mins (Net Chip time)! WOW! My Target she shall be! + she was still active & energetic after the race!

Last nite had a rather interesting conservation with Bro Edwards... I was telling him that I'm alittle nervous etc... he said that since i have been training for it, I will be fine! But coming from Bro Edwards, who doesnt do any sports at all.... I think it's hard for him to understand a Sportsperson's mentality!

He asked what kind of rewards will I receive if I WIN the race! "WIN" the race?! HA HA HA!

He looked really puzzled when I told him that I will NEVER come close to winning any such race! He asked me in the most non-chalant tone : "Then why do you want to torture yourself like this?!"

I really cant be bothered to explain much .... so I just said : "Self satisfaction lor."

I told him that "sign up liao, must go! Cos very expensive lah! $65 Leh!"

His reply was the most cute : "WHAT! Still must pay $$$$ to torture urself! SIAO Ah!"

*FAINT* Hahah! My bro is so funny lah! Did he expected that all the races that I took part in, were FREE?!

So what did I get for running the SCM?!

1) Finisher Medal

2) Timing chip as "souvenir"

That's abt it! YES! Of cos the satisfaction is intangible, but nevertheless, a GREAT feeling!

Most imptly, the journey of training together with a Great Buddy, the selflessness to adjust our own schedules & lifestyle.... priceless!

On my way home, I have been thinking really hard... how far can I go?! How far should i go?!

I decided I will hang up my shoes....

for the moment only lah! They got all muddy from the race lah!

*P.S.:Some1 tapped me on my shoulders to tell me he likes my Bright GREEN shoes! WOoohooO!

*These days the soiled training attires are getting rather YUCKY to wash, so I soak them in Dettol overnite... Besides, I love the smell of Dettol in my clothes & room!

my trusty PHITEN Band!

Nugget became an Eunuch!

Finally the day has come for Nugget's sterilisation / castration!

Have been enduring this day to come, esp when he is starting to "sniff" Creamie's.... ahem... XXX.

Fasted him since 12midnite yest... poor thingy, he must bee feeling really hungry lah!

Bloody hell! I waited for the cab for 30mins! WTF!?! & 4 stupid pple actually cut my queue... just 10metres away from me lah! Argh! Actually when I arrived, there was a lady waiting for a cab too, we actually chatted abt Nugget & when we finally flag down a cab - she offered to give me the cab, but I refused & insisted that she take it cos she was here first! So kind of her, but the rest of the pple were A**Holes!

Waited for another 1hr at the vet, to see the pretty vet for 5mins... so left Nugget at the vet & I took a bus back home.

Starting to pour... still waiting for the vet to call me, in the end I had to call them back to check if I could come by! Then they say I could! Argh! They had promised to call me! Wat kind of service is that!

Anyway, took a bus down again cos Cheapo me wanna save on the 35% peak hour surcharge to go down to Jalan Kayu... another 1hr wasted on the bus...

Nugget looked ok, kept meowing as if in pain... so heartpain lah...

Fee for Cab $10.20 (to) + $14.60 (back) + $63.50 (Vet) = $88.30 (Hole in my wallet)!

Fed Nugget once he got back... OMG! First time I see him Hissing n growling at Creamie real fiercely! Till Creamie was also very scared.... I was also afraid that Nugget made attack me too! This continued for abt 1hr... he just lept hissing at her.... OMG! What happened?! I figured he must really be hungry cos he's quite a glutton & havent eaten or drank for the WHOLE day! His eyes were still red & he looked abit goggy...

Staring Incident...

Had a rather fruitful day...

Woke up, worked, packed up & went for swim at TP.
Improvement in timing cos I put in more effort to swim harder...

I finally sat down & do up a template for the ease of recording my training timing... Ok, I am not hard core kind k, only record randomly... but I vow to start recording diligently from today onwards! YAY!
Usually i just record as a word doc. but now I did up an Excel spread Sheet (Yes, I am Geeky - I love Excel)!

Today got improvement cos I really worked on my stroke, except for the last 10 laps lah - take it as abit of cool down... relac relac...

Met J at the Pool & went to the canteen for lunch...
Noticed he has the same ID Band on his wrist for In-Case-Of-Emergency contact person, esp impt for pple like us who may exercise - in case we faint or what lah! When I reach out to flip his band, he panicked abit & almost withdraw his hand... I thought what happened! I just wanna see his personal infor like NRIC, Blood grp or Drug Allergy. Then I saw his contact person is "JXXXXX (Spouse)". I didnt wanna ask him much abt the "Spouse" when he claimed he doesnt wanna settle down actually, dun feel like etc... etc...

I knew he was feeling "guilty" for telling me all those stuff & yet has his "spouse's" number lasered to his ID Band for Emergency contact person... that's why he didnt wanna me to see his band. It all explains why Men can be such Idiots! What happened to honesty between friends? & I thought we were friends! He rembs me of a married friend who still teases or "flirts" with me... actually, he rembs me of more than 1 married guy friend who do this... argh.... why are men so secretive & mysterious beasts?! Is this the way they "Leave their options open?" What do they think of their wives who were to do the same?!

Anyway, work went slightly better than the past week.... 60-28=32. I will jia you!

I noticed that Nugget always do this... whenever I am trying to pack my bag to go out... he will jump into the bag & hide... realy hide.. cos he will crouch low to inside the bag & stay motionless.... & refuse to come out! Usually I have to tuck & pull him out! As if waiting for me to close up the bag without noticing him & he can go for an adventure! Very cute! I figured he notice that whenever I start to pack & carry a "BAG" out, I will be gone for a few hours at least!

Oh, & he does this to all the bags... I think he knows what's a Bag, what's not! Wuahah!

Lucheon + 探班!

I feel like a silly school girl today... wore my shoes cos have "trek" abit of distance from the MRT to Amoy & Boon Tat St. I set off my giant backpack(lappy inside) to go down town!

Piang! It was so Fishing HOT that my perspiration actually dripped off my hair onto my bag when I sat down on the MRT... most embarrassing of all, the guy beside me spotted it (cos it happened a few times) & his head movement is like following the drip from my hair to my bag (which was on my lap).... then he got an "Amazed" look on his Nerdy face... mayb that was a "disgusted" look instead... I wiped off my perspiration so many times I was afraid someone will offer me a towel instead... damn!

Bummed into the Lunch crowd... I NEED AIR! Anyway, managed to get my race belt at one of the bike shops in town... Bike Boutique to be exact cos Athlete circle had packed their stuff, ready to go down to Singapore expo for the SCM race pack collection day starting tmr.

I'm getting excited n alittle nervous abt the race on Sunday!

I need no reminder cos it's EVERYWHERE!

Girl Power ROARRRRRrr! MULAN花木兰*

Watched *Mulan* with my Papa n Linda today! WOW!

Supa Nice... I cried & cried.. at the war scene... the brotherhood.... the romance... the injuried...
I think I can relate better to the movie cos of my experience in the navy...

My Papa n Linda supa Heartless lah! They still can ask me, "AIYOH! Why your eyes so swollen! U cry so much for what! Movie only what!" PIANG! I emotional cannt ah!

Actually I really likey the drama series version by Anita Yuen (袁咏仪) n Chiu Man Cheuk (赵文卓)

it's 48 episode & i watched EVERY single one of it, recorded from SCV...

Plus... when it was telecasted on Channel 8, 2 mths - I watched EVERY single episode again!

& of cos, Laughed at the same jokes... cried at the same scenes...

Send off Mr.Ironman at the airport today... impromptu cos couldnt decide...

What if I am not the only girl to send him off?! Will I get him into trouble?! Will I embarrass myself... aiyoh!

Anyway... flights at 1750H, means have to check in ard 1550H. I reached at 1610H thinking that the procedures would be done so I can peek & see if he's "alone"... Alas... couldnt find the whole gang... so bo bian... cant surprised or "shield" myself liao... had to call him...

Topo-ed my way to T3 from T1... confusing for Hollan Queen Soya... but smarty pantz Soya never fails!

Found him finally cos he said at Food Court.... quick headcount of the table... only 2 girls... sporty looking ones... VERY sporty looking ones (I later learnt that 1 doing Ironman, the other was in some national team...now doing ultra marathons...OUCH)!

Couldnt tell who's with who.. who's accompanying who... went to get a drink... he came along... I complained that I needed a drink... feeling very hot as I walked very fast... he can tease me somemore... "Why u so Hot?", "Walked very fast lah!","Kekeke!" I knew what he meant, I think he could see that I was Blushing...(*^_^*) badly... my head was like on FIRE lah! F**K! CMI Lah Soya! Like that also can Paiseh!

Anyway,I asked the million dollar question: (cant remb the exact words but....)

"ermm...Will I cause you any trouble/inconvenience by coming to send u off today?"
"No ah... why leh?"
"Any1 came to send u off?"

"No leh... oh, got 1 friend lah, she came to send off everyone... " ("She"...Hmmm...)

"Sure or not! Not send u ah?!"

"No lah! Every1, she said she didnt even know I'll be here...." (Phew....)

But got cold stare from the other girl, who's going together... she's taking part in the Ironman too! OMG! IRONWOMAN - Salute! Weird... she not very friendly with me leh... I learnt that they used to train together, running & climbing ard Jun/Jul period.... duno what happened after that lah...

Anyway... he walked with me... we chit chatted randomly & with his friends...

Reached the gate liao... every1 hugging every1... he seemed abit shy.. but he extended his arm signalling a hug... so I returned the Hug lah... he said "Hey, thanks for coming!" I said "Hey, No problem, Jia You k! Gd Luck!"

Immediately once they all went in, his other gal friend turned & asked me "So you are A's friend?"

"Oh yes, I dun know the rest of them... I only met them just"

"I mean, are u A's girlfriend?"
"Oh No no... Just friend..." =D I went on to explain that I stay quite near airport & work from home + he said no one sending him off, so I came etc etc...

I duno why I got so gan jiong... mayb cos I duno WHO this person is... whose side she is from....

Anyway, he left me with a killer sentence: "So I dun have to msg u liao hor! Keke!"

ok lor, since he said he will msged me when he's leaving today... & since I am here already... of cos he dun have to msg me liao lah! Fair, But.... Slam the head lah!

But anyway, he did lah.... to thank me again... =)

& he did again when he arrived safely in Aus.... Niceee... =)

My Woooohoooo Sunday!

Met Ellen for our ECP jog this morning!
Tapering down for the race day! Plus experiencing new pain in areas never before.... at short milege somemore, like 4km....
decided to do a 10km instead... praying hard the pray will not come.... but it did at abt 3km... & I had to shift my weight to my other leg...

Ellen really very pro lah! At abt 5km, she asked if I was in pain... I didnt tell her cos I dun wanna sound wimpy....I just simply replied her "Erm... yes... how u know?" She replied in her a non-chalant manner "cos I can see ur shadows... ur running gait is different from ur usual...ur weight is shifted..." When I gave her the "Wau.... like that also can ah?" She explained further that after training for the past 2-3mths together, she has long gotten used to seeing my shadow & understanding my running gait... do u call this the "occupational hazard" or "interest"? Anyway, it's just very cool!

We endured & completed the run, & strongly with very decent pacing... immediately the pain went away so it's nothing too serious I guess, I would be very worried if the pain dont go away even when walking.... =I

Went to collect the race pack for SCM at the Floating platform... getting excited!

We had lunch with Mr.A at Cafe iL Lido Suntec City Fountain Level! Yummy 4 Cheese Pizza is simple Heavenly!

Something interesting happening... actually supposed to help Mr.A take some self potrait for some projects... have to be naked.... topless I mean... wau lau.... It's a "swallow-saliva-hard" situation when i asked him "realli ah...." anyway... en route to his place, he decided that he dun feel like taking the photo anymore... another day... he's feeling nuaz etc... ?!?! Piang! He's mood swing is worst than a girl lah! Suddenly, out of the blue on the MRT liao, then he said that?! Then I go his house for what siah?!

Ok, Millon-dollar-question
"Errm.... are u that kind that will comfortable if u just lay down on the bed & rest/sleep awhile kind? I let u sleep on my bed lah... I sleep on the inflatable mattress..."

Very hard question to answer leh... my heart pumping so fast that I feel like I am running the actually SCM liao... "Ermm.... it depends lor....piang! U realli asking to go all the way to ur place to watch u sleep ah?!" was all I could squeeze out...

So we just ended up sitting on the mattress (his room is like my room, the mattress on the floor kind).... no no.... this sounds very wrong! He sat on the mattress & I sat on the inflatable 1... chatted abit... then he said he wanna nap.... Wau Lau... Soya Ng, if u can survive this, u can survive Cherating! Resist ur temptations!
To watch some1 you like sleep, is sweet... if it's some1 you fancy, it's tempting.... some1 you fantasize... it's DANGEROUS lah! OMG!

Although this is not the 1st time I went to a guy friends house alone... in the same room... this is the 1st time I find myself feeling the need to look away from his prying stares... though he made me feel very comfy in his presence, I cant help but feel that I am being observed? Was he testing me?! Or I am the Millionth gal friend who visited his room in this manner... 1 thing for sure, he is very comfy with me, cos he said so... but it kinda feel sore to think that I could be just a number in his list of gals-who-watched-me-sleep-in-my-room....

Aiyah... anyway, I entertained myself by reading his books... probably fell asleep for abt 15mins before we were supposed to bring Kona for her doggy class!

Still feeling alittle breathless, I had to drag him outa bed in order not to be late for lessons!

Kona is really getting very good in the commands & all... seeing Mr.A clean up after kona at home the 1st instant when he came home... the endless mopping etc.... I suddenly feel that it's not so easy to keep a dog after all... esp such a hyperactive breed like Jack Russell....

During the lesson, I asked him if he ever regret getting a dog... he replied without the slightest hesitation, & with firm conviction "Nope." he never tot that way before, just do & be a good owner... so I tease him that he is a gd daddy to Kona... =)

We brought Kona to Bliss cafe @ Punggol park! Walked the park for 1 round before settling for dinner! it was niceeee....& a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart....

After dinner, I went back home... had to reluctantly turn down his invitation to go watch soccer match with his friends at his fav hangout pub. It's a midnite match so I dun wanna go... have to work today mah!
he commented that he is still not used to hear me say that I have to wake up early for work! hahah! I told him my Boss, Miss Ng, will kill me if I throw Leave/ MC again! Hahah! I agreed to go if there is a match on a Saturday nite...

received his 报平安 sms when he gave back... since he is flying off this week for his IRONMAN race in AUS, this msg had a wrong different meaning to it.
"I reached home. N u left ur tai tai sunglass in my car. That's a good way to make me meet u again. :)"

Faint! i SWEAR it was not intentional! OMG! after thinking very hard, I decided this is the best reply I can come up with!

"Aiyah! Pi-Jia-Lobang! No lah, kiding - i jus realised too! Pls look after 4 me 1st, it's impt to me =) Thanks for sending me bk, realli"

the last thing I wan is to make the 1st move to arrange a meet up before he leaves.... I also will be shy 1 what! I'm a Pussy under the Lion Mane! So I'll just leave things as it is & see how things goes from them... Mr.A - u have 2 days to react! *fingers crossed* =P

I Survived PH & Saturday in Town-SHOPPING!

it was Public Holiday for Singapore yest... happened to be Thanksgiving also...
after the baking operations, very excited to bring the muffins for Chris n gang, & stella + Stella's Mummy.

Actually realised that I dun have a sweet tooth, I dun really like very very sweet drinks, nor a die-die-must-eat-brownie/mudpie feeling... though I generally love cakes n chocolates.. I prefer them to be the dark chocolati kind-not too sweet but rich with the aroma of cocoa!

But I totally enjoy baking.... more so baking for pple I love... pple whom I feel will be happy to receive my "L-O-V-E"... I feel honoured to be able to bake for these pple, share the Sugary Sweet feeling with them! I feel most love when I knw they enjoy the goodies...even if I have to force it down their throat! wuahaha! Anyway, I realised that "This is me...this is Soya..." =D

Had a sumptuous meal at Waruku Heeren's to celebrate Chris' bday! Cool! I think she is so blessed to have so many friends celebrating for her! It's not a big Bash kind, but homely, simple & nice...

Have been craving for this for a long time... never know what it's called.... esp love the thinly sliced beef cooked in herbs & dipped in raw egg.... yummm...

Age's catching up with me I feel.... feel esp old tonite... during dinner, I was the "oldest" amongst all... It's a weird feeling, cos usually I am the middle or occassionally the youngest... this is the 1st time I am the oldest!
I have always clique well with older pple... even when they are like much much older than me & different life stage.... but i never knew that I will clique well with younger ones.... some younger than me by at least 8yrs! omg! i feel so much grown up! it's scary! I feel older not mainly by age or the years I have "eaten SALT", but by what I have been thru in life...

Plus, these pple just have so much energy! By the time we finished the movie , I was 3/4 gone..... partly due to the "flying aladdin scenes" - giving me the giddy nausea/queasy feeling... but mainly cos it's almost my bedtime

...

We hang around at TCC till by the time I got home,it was abt 3am! OMG! Havent done this for a while.... unless I was drinking - but tonite is purely Healthy drinking.... tea n fruit freeze... I even managed to resist ordering a beer for myself at Waruku... this is probably the 1st time I order a soda.... some kinda record! Hah!

Totally enjoyed myself... these pple are so easy to hang ard with, they have no expectations of me, they dun see me as a "coming-30-yrs-old-&-still-no-career-old-maid".... they like accepted me as I am & best, I dun have to explain what i am doing & why I am doing it.... Phew!

Today - Saturday
Took a bus to Stella's place & delivered the cakes! Happy that her mum likes them! Stella told me later that her mummy finished half the cake by herself! *YAY!*

We went to town... yes... Town.... me... orchard... shopping... on a SATURDAY.... Plus... I was the one who CHIO-ed Stella! & I survived the day!

Stella so cute lor... since I had choped her since Wed... she has been checking on me regularly if I am feeling ok... is it that I am bad mood lah... why suddenly wanna go town shopping,esp on a Saturday.... Gal, u just know me too well... I was not feeling too good abt myself, yes... but after spending the whole day with u, I m feeling better already... thanks for always being here for me.... =D

We saw a nice pair of shoes! So cute & sweet! Really liked it alot lah! But it's too Exp for a pair of Ballet Flats....though I have a theory that it's impt to invest in a gd pair of shoes for comfy.... but... it's from River Island?! MIC?! Though it's comfy.... will it be lasting to make gd the $89.90 it cost? Will it still be comfy after 3hrs of shopping in it?!

This shop at Ion has an interesting marketing strategy...1 shirt for $40, 2 for $69, 3 for $99! So must get all the friends to come buy tshirts together! I love their tshirts, mostly those vintage newspaper/black white photo printing!

We also went for the movie *An Education* Go Watch it! Alittle like *CoCo Chanel* kind... woman will power & determination....

Love the French "muscial/broadway" music in the movie.... So ... sensual... Sexy... woooo....

Managed to catch up with Yanne n Tania for a short while... it's nice to catch up.... i prayed very hard they dun ask me what I am doing, how's my work etc... hahah! Luckily my prayers came thru! Hahah! Anyway... it's was relaxing to be in their company!

Waited for a Bloody 45mins for the stupid express bus number 518.... Express my ASS! The board indicating the timing is faulty, or the bus previously broke down, cos the "timing till arrival" kept changing from 6mins to 3 mins to 7mins etc.... bloody! Else I would have taken the MRT home & comfortably laying in bed liao!

in the end, I took a cab back... & got a rude surprise! It now cost $3 extra to take a cab from town.... blimey! So it took 20mins of my life to travel home & $15 lesser off the weight of my wallet! argh! Wasted money again! + never buy a single thing from today's shopping trip! Hahah! So funny! I always end up not buying things when I planned to shop & when I dun plan.... I ended up lugging shopping bags home! Irony of life!

I feel like a proud Mummy today! My 5mths old baby Nugget just dropped 1 of his milk teeth & I found it on the floor! Wuahah! I din get to see Creamie's or Cookie's but Nugget's I did!

That would explain the couple specks of blood on the floor the past 2 days & his moody & listless character too! Plus, he's experiencing puberty now & worst-No Girlfriend! *pat*pat* Wonder if he knows that he will be castrated this friday... hmmm.... =)

It's a Baking day!

Sleeping these days is becoming a problem again... mainly cos Nugget is growing bigger & my pillow space is getting smaller....

Woke at 7am & prepare for run with Ellen, feeling weak.. cant make it...
dragged my feet, or rather I struggled to get my ass out to meet Ellen at Bedok reservoir... alas, legs not listening to me... lethragic...

We both experience pain... me in my knee (usually after a long run...) & hip joint(new pain)... we decided not to "kill ourselves" (in ellen's exact words) & only did 4km.... plus my 2km there - only 6km... bleah...

It's baking day today...planned to bake either yest or today... bot the ingredients a couple of days ago.... actually since I bake quite often these days... I will usually stock up butter (unsalted for baking), flour n sugar... eggs are a norm in my hse, so only need to get the specific ones like milk & i got bananas too! Wanna use up the walnuts that Stella bot from Dubai n make some Banana Walnut for Stella's mum!

Actually wanted to make muffins, but when I was just pondering aloud which to make, Linda promptly asked if I could make the Cake version... she said she like the Banana Walnut cake version better... wau, 1st time leh, she tell me she like my cake... & ask me to make somemore!

This is my usual, I am quite familiar with the recipe but even then, I can never remember the measurements.... cos I will alwis improvish here & there! Add this & that if my mood feels like it! I feel that cooking/baking should be like this... very 随性, go with the flow... as & when, watever, & however u like it!
