Rambling...

I get this a lot these days… “so what do u do for a living Soya?”

Depending on my mood:
If I’m in the normal mood, it’ll be “I’m working from Home..”

If it’s lousy, it’ll turned out to be “What the F**K has it gt to do with u anyway, Mind you our Biz man!” No lah… usually it’s the 1st response…=)

If it’s gd, I’ll probably answer him “Well, I am currently living life!”

That’s it! I m currently Living My Life! To the fullest!

Many pple (including my close friends, family, and esp acquaintances), they must all think (or at least wonder) why I am doing this… Throw in the towel from a Banker job…

Funny the designation of “Banker” has always draw mixed responses… some are aware that a Banker is a very loose term. It’s generally used for someone who works in the financial dept of a bank. It may involve working with customers for their wealth management plans, or working to improve the financial status of the bank’s investments. What I did, was Wealth Management for Mass Market customers.

My papa seemed to think that it’s a damn bloody prestigious title… but understanding my character, he chose not to utter a breath abt me leaving my job.

I faced an uphill battle, pple dun take me seriously becos I dun dress up for work. Most days I am in my PJ (you know… that sexy camisole n boxer shorts *WINK*) and wear my home specky. Sometimes the “Work-at-home” prejudice gets to me, pple didn’t think the image of me wearing nothing but a pencil tugged behind my ear means that “I M SERIOUS!”. Another stigma pple have of me, that I have it easy… Very Easy. Friends and family may even picture me sitting around eating Pringles’ chips while giggling at the reruns of “Singapore Idols.”

The fact that I have overworked is ignored. I compensated the time need to travel, with WORK! Being new, I start early while others still in their Lala Land or are busy commuting to their office. They may even catch that 45mins nap on the train/bus – that is if they get a seat! Times 2 for the journey to & fro work! I dun get to enjoy the 1hr lunch break or 15mins tea break! Or the occasional gossip I have with a co-worker at the pantry! What about lingering the extra 5 mins in the toilet, before work – to make sure I look pretty enough for the boss, and after work to make sure I look pretty enough for the stranger I meet on the train!

I dun get annual leaves, nor MCs, nor time-off, nor Off-in-Lieu every time a Public Holiday falls on a Saturday! Oh, & I dun get to enjoy all the Singapore Public Holidays like Vesak Day anymore! I made some calculation, since I wake at 6.30am – plough my butt a in front of the lappy by 7am, and usually try to "close shop" by 6.30pm - I m terribly overworked!

So why am I doing this?!

Hey! First of all, “Early bird gets the worms” right?! So starting early means I can rest earlier! I chose to start early so I can make full use of the rest of the day!

So I wake at 6.30, washed up & start up comp by 7am, armed with a Giant mug of freshly brewed Earl Grey Tea. By 8am, it’s time to feed my kitties & let them out to play in the living room. Sometimes I squeeze in some time to grab a quick home cooked TeoChewMuay breakfast with my parents, visit the loo & read my newspaper before 10am. Then I will be busy preparing my sandwich for lunch. Sometimes I can squeeze in an afternoon swim at TP, thereafter either I’ll be watching the market on my lappy, by the pool, or going home to catch the afternoon session. It’ll be all the way till abt 6 after I close any open positions. My evenings are usually spent watching TV with my parents, or jogging with my training buddies, sometimes I catch a movie at the central.

On Sat n Sun, I try to sleep in a little bit more…either do my training, or catch a movie or nuaz with friends.

It’s pretty much what I do now… So is this good life or what?! hopefully I can sustain living this life… depending on my saving to do what I wana do in life is anything but easy… I need to watch my budget…

Percentage of my spending to-date… GOOSH!
Need to cut down more!

-Kitty stuff was unexpectedly high this month due to Nugget’s Vaccination n Creamie’s Condition!
-Transport was unrealistically 0% cos yet to top up Ezlink card + I have been repaying transport from frm with Makan!
-Fixed exp Zoomed out of my account every month by the 5th… Hp, internet, Insurance, Hsehold money… Goosh…

So it’s not easy working from home… But I am living it now… Thank gdness for a bunch of cooool friends who will support me always in no matter what I do in life! YAY! You know who u are! Kudos to u!

Rainy afternoon again… Creamie n Nugget snuggled together to sleep on the sofa while I worked in the living room…. Yes…. The “Living” room! Kekek!

So Cute!

My Salmon “Burger” for brunch….

Since raining so heavily, me n Clarissa decided not to jog and we headed to the GIANT at Tamp. Clare so cute lah, she calls it the giant GIANT?! Hahah!

Couldn’t get the Catnip seeds there…. Argh….why?! Oh, btw, my catnip seeds n Mint seeds did not even sow… damn! Reading online, you have to kinda “germinate” it! Dictionary.com says it’s : To cause to sprout or grow. Why wasn’t there any such instructions on the packet of seeds?! Damn! Waste my $$$!

Anyway, we had an early X’mas dinner at Ikea! YUMMY! Turkey, Ham, Carrots n Baby Baked Potatoes with Pineapple sauce! Cool!

Early X’mas dinner at Ikea!

This afternoon I went to visit Wendy’s parents and finally managed to catch her in person! I think I see her parents more than I see her lor! Anyway, we made plans to meet up real soon & I am happy abt it!! YAY!

Specially made my way down to Plaza Singapura’s Carrefour… No Catnip Seeds…. Damn!

Bot this cute cookie cutter at DAISO! Gona ask my best friend for some Gingerbread recipe soon! YAY! Happy!
So Cute!
*Looks like Gingerbread man n House to me leh!
But it said :"Child n House"

Took bus to Suntec Carrefour which I bot my 1st batch of Catnip seeds n Mint seeds… ALAS! Cant find them! I must have walked up & down the aisle (cos I distinctly remb where the section is) for abt 45mins… Damn! Couldn’t catch hold of any1 cos they are mostly the promoters for certain products only! F**K!

In the end, I finally grab Carrefour stuff & ask him where the Plant/Gardening section is, I wanna get some seeds… he looked at me & blinked blurry… then he asked to be spoken in Mandarin… WTF! PRC working in Carrefour cant speak basic English?! OMG! Then what! I must speak to him in French ah?! This is too much?! Ok, I was suddenly Jammed with what “Seeds” were called in Mandarin so for the next 58secs, I was struggling to think of what is it called… damn…

What F**King luck…. They made space for the Xmas decorations by replacing the Seeds… damn, & it had to be only 2weeks after I bot them from the same place… So fruitless trip + rushing home to watch the market….

So for the 1st time, I took WangWang out from my bag, plough in the USB Modem n watched the market on the way home on the Express Bus, which took 20mins to arrive and 50mins to reach my house – not very “Express” after all… damn!

Really not my day… raining heavily just after I got off the bus… tonite’s run is cancelled… nothing to look forward to liao… bleah….

Oh! 1 thing to be happy abt though! I was lucky to get balloted! Not some HDB lah! I think this could be even tougher luck than getting a ballot for a HDB in Singapore! It's the SCM collection of goodie bags at "THE FLOAT" -Floating platform and only 8,000 or 9,000 pple can get!

Best part, Clarissa n Ellen both got the ballot too!! YIPPEE!

Also, nugget performed the trick again... Ever seen a cat with a boxed head?!
